This policy explains what information TipsKorea collects when you visit tipskorea.com, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We keep it short and in plain English.
The short version:we don't sell your data, we don't require an account to read our guides, and the only personal detail we ask for is your email — and only if you choose to subscribe.
01 Who we are
TipsKorea (“we”, “us”) operates the website at tipskorea.com, an independent travel-comparison publication for visitors to South Korea. This policy applies to that website. We are the data controller for the limited personal information described below.
02 What information we collect
We collect very little, and most of it is anonymous:
- Information you give us — your email address, only if you subscribe to our newsletter, and anything you include if you contact us directly.
- Usage data — pages visited, approximate region, device and browser type, and how you arrived at the site, collected in aggregate through analytics.
- Cookies — small files used for analytics and to measure affiliate referrals (see Section 04).
We do not ask for your name, payment details, or any sensitive personal data to use the site.
03 How we use your information
We use the limited data we hold to:
- Send the newsletter you signed up for (and nothing else without asking).
- Understand which guides are useful so we can improve and update them.
- Measure whether a visit to a partner resulted from a TipsKorea link, so our affiliate partners can credit us.
- Keep the site secure and working correctly.
05 Affiliate links
Many outbound “Check price” and “View plan” links are affiliate links. When you click one, the partner may set a cookie to record that the referral came from TipsKorea. If you then make a purchase, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. The partner—not TipsKorea—processes any purchase and handles your payment information under their own privacy policy. See our full affiliate disclosure.
07 Your rights
Depending on where you live (including under the EU/UK GDPR and similar laws), you may have the right to access, correct or delete the personal data we hold about you, to object to or restrict its processing, and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these, email us using the address in Section 11. You can unsubscribe from the newsletter instantly using the link in any email.
08 How long we keep data
We keep newsletter subscriptions until you unsubscribe. Aggregate analytics data is retained only as long as it's useful for understanding trends. Affiliate-attribution cookies expire automatically, typically within 30–90 days depending on the partner.
09 Children
TipsKorea is intended for adult travelers and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
10 Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site evolves or the law changes. When we do, we'll revise the “Last updated” date at the top. Material changes will be highlighted on this page.
11 Contact us
